How do you keep weeds from overwhelming your garden into a bird feeder?
I sunflower seeds and bird food mix wild in a feeder hanging from a tree below. The missing bird seed out on the ground and I am constantly weeding this space to eliminate thousands of buds. Is there some ingenious way to keep the floor clear under a bird feeder?
My method is not planting the area. It stays green all the shoots and squirrels and birds to keep their collection. I do not know who eats the young shoots – maybe quail – but do not last long. I also built my own platform bird feeder which has 2 "sides around a 12" X18 "platform. This way the birds are not far off when searching for your favorite artist or to pursue other jump away. With this type of platform you need to accept other foods. While the platform is 10 'of land I've seen foxes and raccoons, as well as squirrels. Its mounted on a 4×4 post that is attached to an old tree trunk. I built a small ladder for me to get him.
