Are the rates the Orioles (the bird) living in South Carolina?
We would like to add a bird feeder for the Orioles in our yard, but I wonder if they even live in our area, before giving him a chance. We live in the northern part of South Carolina, about an hour south Charlotte, North Carolina. I've never seen any Orioles in this area myself, but I see no hummingbirds or until specific flowers and hanging feeders to for them. I really like to have the bright orange Orioles – if anyone knows of any in this area, please let me know.
Despite what he said the other person, there orioles in South Carolina. Orchard Orioles breed there and the Baltimore Orioles migrate through the state in spring and autumn. Orchard Oriole are not as flashy as Baltimore, but still lovely birds. Both species are found in good numbers from the coming weeks through mid to late May. You can try to cut off the oranges, small cups of grape jelly and sugar water for them. Oriole feeders are available, but I'm not sure if its investment value. Here in Texas we cut the oranges in half and glue them onto the branches of trees, impaling them on bare poles. You can put fruit to others, too, like grapes. Gelatin can be put on the caps of bottles or cans rinsed spray. You are more likely to get birds like this if you have the habitat right in their backyard. Orioles and other neo-tropical migrants prefer large trees with understory plants. Native fruits and flowers are a great advantage. I would suggest stop at a grocery store poultry, wild birds unlimited as to advise. Good luck!
