Hummingbird food?
What is the best combination to put in humming bird feeders? I've been using the store to buy things and not seem to like much. I remember long ago someone told me to mix your own, but I can not remember the details.
Add one cup of sugar two cups of water. Bring to a boil for two minutes. Allow to cool and you're ready to go. I also put red food color in mine, but many people say is not a necessity. I've been humming for years, and many, many of them, and always at least 8 feeders. I've always mixed a cup of sugar and two cups water, and the use of red color on each feeder, each time, and not a dead bird to talk. Not one. My mom, sister, the SIS Act, aunt and all do granmother them in the same way too. I guess it's a matter of preference, but I just wanted to clarify that it will not kill to be half or use food coloring. Hope have lotsa hummingbirds is a trip soon becuz watching.
