What do hummingbirds eat, besides nectar?
I have a few himmingbirds and not worry about the nectar they buy in their PetSmart .. already mixed .. I can not find the one I used in powder form … I liked … I hope they are getting something more than the nectar from the flowers … no There is much about …. I also have to find something to clean the bird seed feeders … I heard somewhere that vinegar is good .. I do not know the proportions of the mix .. I hope someone can help me
Firstly you can make your own nectar. heat 2 cups of water in the microwave for 2 minutes on top (do not boil). Then add 1 / 2 cup regular white sugar and stir it into hot water until dissolved. Now let it sit and cool to room temperature. I keep it in a sealed container in my Frig. until my diet needs a replacement. Do not add any color and a little food coloring can harm birds. The birds love, I've had up to 7 birds all buzzing around the feeder at a time, chasing each other beyond eating. I also read that hummingbirds eat very small insects found on flowers. I would ask the bird if this is true, but never stop talking … smile. I clean my bird feeders for disassembly, giving them a good wash with the hose and then paste them in my dishwasher.
