Not all birds as black sunflower seeds?
I recently bought my first bird feeder. The man who bought it advised me on what types of seed to buy. I remember saying that the cardinals in particular, as the black sunflower seeds. We have cardinals here and I like to see out the windows my kitchen, so I bought a big bag of black sunflower seeds and put in the bird feeder. I have not seen any birds using my feeder today. I saw some few sparrows brown (I think) fly to the feeder and then fly, but I have not seen any birds ever since. I would have thought would have to spread the word about of a new feeder in the city! Now I wonder if I do not like black sunflower seeds. Did I misunderstand the way? Does it mean that only appeal to the Cardinals? Thank you!
Be patient. Every time I put up a feeder again, it takes about a week for the discovery of a "." Consider now the location of your feed. The birds prefer feeders that are close to shrubs, trees, outbuildings, tall grass. Birds are vulnerable to attacks by predators, while in a feeder than they want to be able to hide quickly, if necessary. Also, do not put your subject in the prevailing winds. The birds do not like this. Cardinals love to be near the bushes, so if you want particularly Cardinals, put the feeder near shrubs. All poultry seed-eaters seem to love sunflower seeds. The same applies to the squirrels. Good luck and just give the birds some time.
